Wing Luke Asian Museum
Wing Luke Asian Museum - Entry and Building Signage
The Wing Luke Asian Museum recently moved to a new location and needed exterior signage to create a strong presence that also met neighborhood and historic building requirements. A system of colors and materials was used for all exterior graphics including steel, paint, vinyl prints, cut vinyl, LED lighting, and changing displays. Design of all signage reinforces the museum's well-known brand in an updated way that works in harmony with the building's historic exterior and modern inspired interior.Responsibilities included: Environmental Graphic Design, Fabrication Management, Bidding/Neighborhood Board Approval Documentation
The dominate large corner sign is 17.5 feet tall and serves to announce the museum from all directions. A band of orange wraps the building to maintain consitency along multiple storefront windows. The corner sign also contains a matching orange stripe along the perpendicular side to reinforce the color system and serve as a beacon from positions where text cannot be seen.
This sign next to the main entrance serves as general information for visitors and a changing announcement area for new exhibits. Self-illuminated, the sign is visible at night and during the day.
This sample page from the design package provided clear documentation of design direction in multiple formats to aid the museum, neighborhood approval board, and sign fabricator in envisioning the final product.
